Lifted Truck Restrictions New Jersey

Having a lifted truck in New Jersey comes with numerous benefits. Perhaps the most obvious benefit is that it simply looks great. A truck rolling up with a professional body and suspension lift, paired with a set of 35″ tires is an impressive sight. A less apparent yet even more vital benefit is the improved functionality that a lift offers a truck through the improved ground clearance. With a lifted truck in New Jersey, you’ll be able to go over almost any obstacle in your path. You’ll even be able to drive through flooded streets. This functionality can even work as an aid for those stuck in inclement weather, allowing you to hook and pull any less fortunate souls out of the snow or mud.
Law
Before going ahead with your lifted truck purchase, however, you’ll want to research the local laws. If you’re planning on owning a lifted truck in New Jersey, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. When you elevate your vehicle, you are required to undergo inspections. The Elevated Vehicle Inspection includes specifications for your tires, wheels, brakes, and steering wheel.
Restrictions
Additionally, New Jersey laws restrict the size of your vehicle. Your truck can be no wider than 102 inches, no taller than 13 feet 6 inches and no longer than 40 feet. Additionally, you must have a bumper on any vehicle that has a modified suspension system. The fenders must cover the entire length of the tire tread. If you’re going to add extra lights for off-road fun, the maximum amount that can be used on the front of the vehicle is four. The rest must be covered during street driving. These are just some of the restrictions on lifted trucks in New Jersey.
