Buying vs leasing a new car is a major decision based on your individual needs. Burlington Chevy at 106 East Route 130 in New Jersey has both options available to people interested in new and previously owned late model Chevrolets. You may want to lease a 2014 Silverado 1500 LTZ crew cab truck for your business or a Chevrolet Express Uplifter Van. The 2015 Tahoe LTZ may be the vehicle you need for business and pleasure.
Buying vs Leasing a new car
Leasing
You are signing a long-term rental contract when you lease a Chevrolet or other make vehicle. You are agreeing to a down payment to cover taxes and license fees as well as a security deposit. You also agree to make monthly payments to the dealer or rental company for 36 to 48 months.
The lease contract stipulates the maximum number of miles you can put on the vehicle during the period of the rental. This is generally an average of 12,000 miles per year or 36,000 miles on a three-year lease. There is usually an additional charge for excess mileage.
You are responsible for the insurance, maintenance and annual license tab renewal fees while the car is on the lease. You may buy the car off the lease when it expires or turn it back into the dealer. Many people leasing vehicles for business return the vehicle before the lease expires and rent a new one.
There may be tax advantages when leasing vehicles for business.
Buying a car
You purchase the car for yourself and/or a business when you buy the vehicle. Usually a financial institution loans the money and it owns the car along with you until the loan is paid off. The car belongs to you when the loan is finished and the state will send you a certificate of ownership or "green slip".
You can sell the car or keep it as long as you want. There is no mileage limitation. You should follow the recommended maintenance schedule for new or certified pre-owned cars. Burlington Chevrolet has an outstanding service department to keep your car in good shape.
The buyer is responsible for insurance, taxes and license fees as long as she or he owns the vehicle.
A good credit score is necessary for financing a new or late-model pre-owned vehicle. One way to decide on buying versus leasing a car is the amount needed for a down payment. A trade-in of your old vehicle can be applied to the down payment when buying versus leasing a car that requires a cash payment at the time of signing.
