As all us residents know, Burlington Township, is a thriving residential community. While there’s an almost inexhaustible calendar of events across the Delaware River, where Philadelphia – our gigantic neighbor to the west – lights up the horizon, there’s plenty to do here in Burlington County, too. If you’re considering a new or new-to-you vehicle for your family summer outings, visit Burlington Chevrolet for all the best deals.
Burlington Township This Summer
On the Doorstep
Start out your summer of fun by visiting the City of Burlington Historic District. At one square mile, it’s doable in a day, yet there’s enough history here to encourage repeat visits all summer long. Buildings and connections date back to 1687, while a number of modern attractions and restaurants don’t detract from the Olde Time feel.
If you’re a fan of any aspect of American history – from buried pirate treasure and witch trials to the Underground Railroad – you’ll find it all here. Mixed in with old houses steeped in folklaw, you’ll find multiple "Best of Burlington" award winners in both the Dining and Shopping categories.
Amico Island
Once an island in the Delaware River, Amico Island is now attached to mainland New Jersey by a narrow strip of land. The 55-acre peninsula features countless wide, level hiking trails through forests, meadows and wetland habitats. Bird watching here is incredible.
Turtle Run Campground
A large playground, a turtle-shaped pool, and tent, RV and cabin camping. For a relaxing weekend, or a season-long stay, Turtle Run has it all, in the heart of the rightly-famous Jersey Pine Barrens.
Valenzano Winery
For an entirely indoor experience, appoint a designated driver and check out Valenzano Winery. They have a great selection of local wines, which you get to sample in their brand new tasting room.
Horse Sense
In the Best of Burlington County 2013 awards, Suffolk Stables came in first in the Best Horseback Riding category. The stables cater to all rider age groups and skill levels, offering everything from beginner classes (and one-on-ones) to beach rides for the more accomplished.

- Dressage
- English Equitation
- Hunt Seat Equitation
- Jumpers
The stables aim to involve their students in clean, safe activities when they’re out of the saddle also. Family BBQ days welcome parents, as do some game nights and trips to local shows and exhibitions.
To find Suffolk Stables from the Burlington Chevrolet dealership at 105 East Route 130 South in Burlington, simply head west on US-130 South, then take the first left onto Wood Street and the first left onto County US-130 North. After half a mile, make the right onto Jacksonville Road (it’ll be your second right), then stay with it through three name changes for 7.5 miles. Turn right when you see the US-206 South sign, then in three miles make a left onto North Pemberton Road. Turn right onto County Route 668 (also called Arneys Mount Road and Pemberton Arneys Mount Road), then in a half mile make a slight right onto Fort Dix Road. Head straight – again through three name changes – for a total of 2.7 miles. Ridge Road is on your left, as are the stables, almost exactly one mile after you make the turn.
Of course, if you’re not in the mood for climbing on board a stallion yourself, you can always put the kids in capable hands and retrace your steps. Check out a test drive in a 2014 Chevrolet Impala 2LZ, or for the SUV enthusiast, consider getting behind the wheel of the brand new 2015 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LTZ.
