2020 Chevrolet Sonic
With the 2020 Chevrolet Sonic, big things – including generous passenger space and innovative technology – come in compact packages.
What’s new for the 2020 Chevrolet Sonic?
This year, the Sonic offers two new exterior colors, Cayenne Orange Metallic and Oasis Blue. Either color adds distinctive style to this sporty hatchback. Also, the six-speed manual transmission has been discontinued for 2020, leaving only the six-speed automatic transmission.
Why choose the 2020 Chevrolet Sonic?
The 2020 Chevrolet Sonic might be budget-friendly and fuel-efficient, but it’s also loaded with tech goodies and modern equipment – features formerly only available in much more expensive cars. This compact also gives you options, with both sedan and hatchback body styles available. The latter increases cargo space and day-to-day utility. However, we must say that both Sonic body styles deliver impressive cabin space and plenty of room for your belongings.

This compact Chevy offers a tech-focused driving experience. Should your smartphone signal be reduced to a single bar, simply connect it to the standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. The Sonic’s Wi-Fi improves connectivity with its powerful radio modem and perceptive antenna. And every Sonic comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, smartphone integration technology that places apps on the Sonic’s 7-inch central touchscreen for quick, easy use. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay also give you access to your phone’s voice controls for a more distraction-free approach to infotainment.
Whether you’re navigating traffic or cruising on the highway, you can also expect big things from the Sonic’s performance. This compact car’s turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine gets you off to a quick start, with 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque for zipping around town. Choose from three Sonic trim models: LS, LT, and Premier. The LS is only available as a sedan, while the latter two trims can be had as either a sedan or hatchback. In addition to the LS’s excellent tech lineup, this entry-level trim offers OnStar emergency telematics, which can send roadside or emergency assistance. The LT creates a more modern experience, with power windows, heated power mirrors, and upgraded cloth seating. Get the Premier for push-button start and heated front seats.
What are the 2020 Chevrolet Sonic mpg ratings?
In addition to its likeable drive and tech-savvy cabin, the Sonic draws you in with its fuel-efficient performance. Both the sedan and hatchback models earn 29 mpg combined (26 city/34 highway mpg). These numbers make the Sonic an excellent option for anyone who spends a lot of the time on the highway, whether commuting or vacationing.

Is the Chevrolet Sonic a good car?
It doesn’t matter whether you choose the sedan or hatchback – you can always count on your Sonic to deliver a steadfast performance for years to come. These cars’ reliability is even backed up by Chevy’s robust warranty coverage. The plan includes bumper-to-bumper limited warranty coverage for three years or 36,000 miles – whichever happens first. And the powertrain limited warranty is even more impressive, lasting five years or 60,000 miles.
