2020 Chevrolet Impala vs Honda Accord
The 2020 Chevrolet Impala and 2020 Honda Accord are two contenders in the midsize sedan class. Both offer comfort and style, but the clear differences will make the Impala your choice.
Design and Safety Features
The 2020 Chevrolet Impala’s quality and value make this sedan a great option. It offers a plush ride with plenty of passenger and cargo space. The Impala seats five people comfortably with plenty of rear-seat space. With 18.8 cubic feet of space, the Impala’s trunk is one of the roomiest in its class. The standard split-folding rear seats create even more space, and their seatbacks fold level with the trunk floor. Its well-designed cabin comes standard with cloth and synthetic leather upholstery, as well as an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. A rearview camera is a standard safety feature, but there are plenty of available safety features including, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
The 2020 Honda Accord has nearly as much cabin space as the Impala, but it’s a bit shorter. This sedan seats up to five people and offers standard cloth upholstery. There is enough legroom in both rows, but headroom gets a bit tight in the back for taller passengers. The Accord has a 16.7-cubic-foot trunk with a narrow opening that makes it tricky to load cargo. Lower seating position also hampers your entry and exit out of the car. Standard safety features include a rearview camera and automatic high-beam headlights as well as Honda Sensing suite.
Entertainment System
The Chevrolet Impala’s infotainment system is easy to use and responds quickly to inputs. It comes standard with an impressive amount of technology, including an 8-inch touch screen, smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, three USB ports, satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Navigation, and wireless device charging. An 11-speaker Bose premium stereo is also available.
The base Accord features a 7-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a four-speaker stereo. Available options for the Accord that come standard in the Impala’s line of technology include, an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, navigation, more USB ports, satellite radio, HD Radio, and an eight- or 10-speaker sound system.
Power, Fuel, and Price
The Impala’s base price starts at $31,620 for the Impala LT and ranges to $36,720 for the Impala Premier. It gets 19/28 mpg on the city and highway. The 3.6-liter V6 engine provides the extra power needed when merging or traveling uphill and a six-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and quickly.
Starting price for the Accord is at $24,020 for the LX to $36,250 for the Touring. Fuel is estimated at 38/30 mpg city and highway. Standard engine in all but the top Touring is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that lacks the acceleration and power of Impala’s V6.
Overview
The 2020 Chevrolet Impala and 2020 Honda Accord are solid sedans in their class. The Impala’s roomy interior, standard entertainment options; along with its V6 engine, make the Impala a choice to consider.
