2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD
In the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, you do your heavy-duty towing and hauling from a very comfortable position.
What’s new for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?
This year, Chevy is dropping some truck configurations from the Silverado 2500HD lineup. Shoppers can no longer choose a regular cabin; this heavy-duty truck is only available with the extended Double Cab or crew cabin, both of which provide backseat space for your crewmates. The Double Cab with the short, 6.5-foot bed has also been eliminated from the roster. But you can still get it with the long, 8.2-foot bed. The crew cab is still available with either bed option.
Who needs the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?
If you’ve got a lot of equipment to move, the heavy-duty Silverado 2500HD gives you an edge. It’s more capable than full-size trucks like the Silverado 1500 and more affordable than heavier-duty trucks, like the Silverado 3500HD.
So, who needs this particular truck? Basically, anyone whose towing needs exceed that of a full-size truck but don’t rate a bigger, heavier-duty truck. If you need to tow more than 12,200 pounds – the most a Silverado 1500 can tow – turn to the Silverado 2500HD. But if you need to tow more than 14,500 pounds – the most a Silverado 2500HD can tow – then you need to move up the heavy-duty ladder to the Silverado 3500HD.
What are the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD engines?
Each of these heavy-duty trucks comes standard with a 6.0-liter, gas-powered V8 engine that makes 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. As you can probably guess from the output, this engine is more than capable of towing and hauling heavy loads. However, if you’re looking for top-notch heavy-duty power, you’re going to need the optional turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel V8 engine. The V8 creates 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque to help you move max payloads and achieve max trailering.
What’s the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD towing capacity?
This depends on the Silverado body style, axle ratio, and powertrain that you select. As we already mentioned, this heavy-duty truck does its best work with the diesel V8 under the hood. Add rear-wheel drive, the crew cabin, and the long bed, and this Silverado can tow max loads of 14,500 pounds. That’s equivalent to a huge family camper or some pretty sizeable farming machinery.
This pickup can also manage serious payloads, making it a good choice for drivers who need to transport heavy company supplies or make a lot of deliveries around town. With the standard gas-powered V8 engine, the Silverado 1500 tows max loads of 3,233 pounds.
