Used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

The Used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado created quite the buzz, and for good reason. General Motors briefly got out of the midsized pickup segment, but they're back in full force. The Colorado had new engines that manage to both increase power and fuel efficiency, are rumored to have a much improved interior over GMs previous midsized trucks, and should be an affordable alternative to tried and true full-sized Chevy trucks.

Used 2015 Chevy Colorado Compared to the Used 2015 Silverado

Chevy's newest Silverado model has been a huge success, and this midsized pickup should benefit from that. The most important thing for you to know as a consumer is that this is not simply a junior version of the Silverado. The Colorado is much sportier and has a more swept-back lock, compared to the square jaw and more rugged look of the Silverado. Essentially, the Colorado is a great choice for drivers who want a truck but don't want the footprint of a full size.

Available Trims and Bed Options

The bed options for the 2014 Colorado will include an extended cab with a six-foot bed, a crew cab with a five-foot bed, or a crew cab with a six-foot bed. The available trims will be Base, LT, and the Z71, which is focused on off-roading. All trims will come standard with two-wheel drive but will be available with four-wheel drive.

Powerful Engine Options

The standard engine will be a 2.5L 4-cylider with an estimated output of 193 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. This standard engine will be plenty if you're looking for a light duty truck, but if you need a larger payload then the optional 3.6L V6 will likely be a better choice. Its estimated output will be 302 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, and both of these engines are standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. In 2016 Chevy plans to add a 2.8L 4-cylinder turbo diesel to the lineup.

Towing Capacity and a Word on Fuel Economy

When properly equipped, this truck can tow an impressive 6,700 pounds - which handily beats the rival Toyota Tacoma. Fuel estimates have not yet been released but there are several aspects that we believe will result in relatively impressive numbers: a lightweight aluminum hood and unique grille shutters that automatically close when the truck is traveling at highway speeds. The previous midsized Chevy truck got around 26 miles per gallon on the highway, and we do expect this truck to get better mileage.

Interior Quality, Comfort, and Convenience

The upgrades in interior quality, convenience, and comfort will be a big improvement compared to Chevy's previous model. The cabin quality is comparable to the Chevy Cruze compact sedan, and the Chevy MyLink infotainment center, with smartphone integration, will go a long way toward updating this truck. It is expected to have the latest technological and convenience features - many of them standard, though some will be optional add-ons.

Production Schedule and Comparable Trucks

The Chevrolet Colorado should begin production any day now, and is expected to be available for sale in the fall. At that point, its biggest competitor was the newest incarnation of the 2013 Toyota Tacoma which had less room, less power, and poorer gas mileage. The other option is the 2013 Honda Ridgeline, though at this point, Honda is not committing to producing this lack-luster truck for another year. Its car-like frame may work well for some, but most of you looking for a truck will want the cool compromise offered in a Used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado.
