2015 Chevy Tahoe is Chevrolet’s full-size SUV. In production since 1995, model year 2015 sees the badge transition into its fourth generation. That step into the future is accompanied by a landslide of new tech features, some of which impact the vehicle in perhaps surprising and understated ways. With its predecessor being the top-ranked Affordable Large SUV in U.S., a boast confirmed by News & World Report, the all-new vehicle has a lot to live up to. It succeeds.

2015 Chevy Tahoe Options

According to Cars.com, the 2015 Chevy Tahoe immediately became the fastest-selling vehicle in the month of its release. With the more efficient, direct-injected EcoTec3 powertrain and a V8 engine that can run in four-cylinder mode, several body panels made of aluminum and vastly improved aerodynamics, fuel economy has been increased without any loss of cabin size.

For many, though, it’s Tahoe’s technology that explains its massive success. The interior now hosts multiple USB ports and power outlets (one a 110-volt, three-prong outlet), an available eight-inch, full-color touchscreen radio, next-generation MyLink connectivity and an available entertainment system for the rear-seats.

2015 Chevy Tahoe In-Car Entertainment

The 2015 Chevy Tahoe’s audio capabilities make a fine example of the array of tech options offered to buyers. From a single-slot CD/MP3 player with SiriusXM satellite radio, through HD radio and equipment with auxiliary input jacks, to navigation systems and a premium Bose Centerpoint surround sound ten-speaker system, choices are effectively limited only by application, never by opportunity.

Noise Reduction

No HiFi can live up to its potential in a noisy vehicle, and here, too, the 2015 Chevy Tahoe options take a very positive step. Noise-reduction tech includes:

  • Unique engine compartment isolation
  • Acoustic wheel liners (which absorb road noise, even the sound of thrown stones)
  • Acoustic-laminated windshield
  • Triple-sealed inlaid doors (designed to reduce wind shrill as well as exterior background noise such as passing diesel tractors)
  • Thicker floor barriers in critical areas, serving to dampen exhaust and underbody noise

Safety

Hands-free tech is no longer just about convenience. Available Chevrolet MyLink can synchronize up to ten devices via Bluetooth, so staying connected without ever taking your hands off the wheel, or your eyes off the road, is as simple as pairing your compatible, Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. Voice and touchscreen control is instantly made available. Alternately, connect your phone using one of the six USB ports around the cabin, and you can still access your apps, playlists and contact lists through the MyLink screen.

With adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear vision camera, side blind zone alert and lane change alert, it’s little wonder reviewers rave about Tahoe’s safety features. Tech Features in the 2015 Chevy Tahoe

2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Update

The 2015 Chevy Tahoe has received an update. Every so often, all vehicle models need a bit of an update. As technology moves ahead at a blistering pace, cars, trucks and SUVs are easily left in the dust if they don’t keep up with new advancements. Anxious to make sure that the Tahoe SUV stays ahead of the pack, Chevrolet has given this full-size SUV a full redesign for the 2015 model year featuring a new engine, improved aerodynamics and convenience, plus updated electronics.

The 2015 Cheverolet Tahoe features three trim levels: the base level LS, the mid-range LT and the top-level LTZ.

2015 Chevy Tahoe – MPG receives an upgrade.

For 2015 Chevrolet replaced the previous Tahoe generation’s Vortec 5.3-liter V8 with a new 5.3-liter EcoTec V8. Although this new engine is the same size, it offers increased power with a peak of 355 horsepower and 382 pound-feet of torque, enough to tow up to 8,500 pounds with the proper equipment. In comparing fuel economy estimates, the 2015 version gains nearly 10 percent in highway driving over the 2014 gasoline-powered models. (While the 2014 Tahoe included a FlexFuel version, the new model uses gasoline only.) Government estimates for both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive Tahoes come in at 18 mpg for combined driving. Both versions also get 16 mpg in city driving, while the two-wheel-drive model achieves 23 mpg on the highway and a Tahoe with four-wheel drive gets 22 mpg on the open road.

This increase in fuel efficiency is helped by some improvements to the Tahoe’s aerodynamics. The windshield is raked forward and doors now fit more closely within their openings to reduce drag, a design feature that also reduces wind noise inside the cabin. In addition, aluminum panels in the hood and liftgate reduce weight.

2015 Chevy Tahoe Driving NJ

Yet the all-new 2015 Tahoe isn’t all about power and efficiency. Comfort and convenience come into play in the redesigned SUV. The most dynamic difference between this year’s Tahoe and previous generations is that the third-row seat now folds down into the floor to allow more space for cargo. Previous Tahoe owners will undoubtedly applaud this improvement over the old third-row bench seat that had to be removed from the vehicle to switch over to cargo mode. An available power-folding feature for both the second row and third row to makes this transition a breeze. The only drawback to the new fold-down third-row seat is that cargo volume is reduced a bit in order to provide space under the floor for the folded seat.

Available technology for the 2015 Tahoe takes several steps forward to keep drivers connected. The latest version of Chevrolet’s MyLink electronic information and entertainment system includes Bluetooth audio streaming that syncs with selected smartphones. The system includes an eight-inch color touchscreen that also conceals a secure storage compartment in the dash behind it. MyLink is a standard feature of the LT and LTZ trims; buyers can also add an available navigation system. Throughout the interior, there are also six USB ports so even back-seat passengers can feed their music to the sound system.

2015 Chevy Tahoe Interior Burlington NJ

Technology also features heavily in the 2015 Tahoe’s safety components. It’s the only full-size SUV with an inboard driver-seat-mounted airbag. By inflating between the driver and a front-seat passenger, this airbag helps cushion both front-seat occupants during side-impact collisions. The new Tahoe has also added several technology-based safety systems such as rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure and blind-spot warning systems, and adaptive cruise control that automatically adjusts the SUV’s speed to maintain a pre-set following distance and brakes if a collision is about to occur. A rearview camera and parking assist sensors round out the Tahoe’s new electronics.

2015 Chevy Colorado Preview

After a brief respite, General Motors will re-enter the American midsize pickup segment with its new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. Destined for US showrooms in the fall of 2014, the 2015 Colorado is much, much more than an Americanized version of the global Colorado available in other markets. This new and improved pickup offers supreme capabilities, versatility, and fuel efficiency. Here’s a preview of how:

2015 Chevy Colorado Preview

While the 2015 Colorado closely resembles the larger Chevy Silverado, it should be seen as a lot more than just its junior counterpart. This rugged midsize pickup is a good 900 pounds lighter and 17 inches shorter, featuring a sportier and more swept-back look that’s attractive to drivers who want all the benefits of a truck but not a massive footprint or V8. Additionally, its improved aerodynamics aide to this midsize pickup truck’s improved fuel economy. The Chevrolet Colorado will be available in both an Extended Cab, with a six-foot bed, or Crew Cab, with a five-foot bed, body styles. Available trims include a base, LT, and an off-road focused Z71 – all with four-wheel drive possibilities. The Chevy Colorado comes with a base 2.5L four-cylinder engine with an estimated 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. This base engine is great for drivers looking for a midsize pickup able to handle off-road and light carrying duties around town. However, if you have visions of bigger toys and bigger payloads, pick up a model with the increased 3.6L V6 engine with an estimated 302 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. This engine should be capable of towing up to 6,700 pounds of equipment and toys. For pickup-friendliness, all models include must-have features such as standard corner steps, 13 tie-down locations, and an easy two-tier loading system. Drivers also have the option of upgrading to a spray-in bed liner and Chevy’s unique EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate.

 Improvements

Colorado Improvements

Improvements don’t stop at the exterior. The 2015 Chevy Colorado features an upscale interior that far exceeds what’s being offered in the competing Tacoma or Frontier. Sliding entry is easy, and the cab features triple-sealed doors, thick, noise-cancelling windshield and side glass, and improved seats with plenty of rear passenger space. Drivers can choose between either leather-appointed or clothes seats, both shaped for maximum support and comfort. Above, sculpted headliners provide that desirable extra space for taller drivers and passengers, or for short passengers with great hats. The LT and Z21 models will feature a unique eight-inch color touchscreen information and entertainment system, in addition to a 3.4-inch driver information screen located in the instrument cluster. Drivers can choose to integrate the Chevy MyLink system, as well as the latest OnStar suite of helpful and attractive telematic goodies. Some of the biggest changes with the newest Silverados can be found inside – and these changes are guaranteed to impress you. Discover what to expect from the 2015 Chevy Silverado, and how its latest makeover compares to the Silverado that came before it.

The 2015 Chevy Silverado vs. the 2014 Chevy Silverado

2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Burlington NJ

Exterior Features

As far as the outer appearance of the Silverado goes, there’s very little difference between the 2014 and 2015 models, other than a slightly different face on the latter. New sheet metal was introduced in 2014 and was carried over to the 2015 models. The tailgate and roof spoilers have been redesigned on the 2015 to encourage greater aerodynamics. The lowest level trim is fitted with 17-inch steel wheels; allow wheels are used on higher level trims. Other options to choose from include dual or single rear wheels, two different bed lengths and three different cab styles.

Interior Design

The interior of the 2014 and 2015 Silverado is where the wow factor really is. The upgrades that were made in 2014 are the basically same in 2015, and they are what has really ushered this truck into the modern era. While driving this brawny pickup, you’ll be surprised at how much the noise level in the cabin has been reduced. This was achieved with hydraulic mounts and triple-sealed inlaid doors. Previous models were stocked with hard, flat seats that have now been swapped for comfortable seats made from high-quality material.

The 2014’s center stack and dashboard revamp were also passed along in 2015, complete with a stylish eight-inch, user-friendly screen that features MyLink and IntelliLink. Power locks and windows, AM/FM stereo and cruise control are a few more of the standard features in the 2014 and 2015 Silverados. Higher trim levels come with features such as OnStar assistance, Bluetooth connectivity, Bose audio system, satellite radio, remote keyless entry and heated front seats.

Engine & Ride

A standard 2015 Silverado HD comes with the General Motor’s Vortec 6.0-liter V8 engine and boasts 360 horsepower. Standard 2014 models have 285 horsepower and a 4.3-liter V6 engine. Both the 2014 and 2015 trucks are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift option and, of course, the towing and hauling function.

That jarring, bouncing feeling so well associated with the ride of a truck has been significantly improved in the 2015 Silverado. The 2014 Silverado offers an even smoother ride, but that’s because it doesn’t come with hauling and towing prowess of the 2015. When tested, the 2015 has shown it can handle major hauls while maintaining the same speed, evening on upward climbs. For such a massive vehicle, the Silverado allows drivers a great sense of control. It can easily lug a fifth-wheel weighing up to 17,900 pounds or carry up to 3,760 pounds in the truck’s bed.

2015 Silverado 1500 vs Ford F-150

2015 Chevy Silverado 3500HD NJ

2015 Chevy Silverado 3500HD

The 2015 Chevy Silverado has a close competitor in the Ford F-150, has always somehow managed to retain its position as one of the best-selling pickup trucks on the market. All-new for 2015, the F-150 boasts a large number of enhancements and compelling features, but the following comparison shows that the 2015 Silverado is still the full-size truck to choose.

2015 Chevy Silverado vs. Ford F-150 Exterior Features

GM designers have always done a spectacular job in giving the Chevy Silverado impressively handsome sheet metal and the most recent model is no different. The Silverado’s rugged, square-jawed looks and tasteful applications of chrome bright-work help create a sophisticated, buttoned-down appearance befitting of a successful full-size pickup

The 2015 F-150 offers a new body style, but it still lacks many of the exterior convenience features that make the Silverado such a great buy. These include the handy CornerStep rear bumper that makes loading cargo easier and integrated pocket hand grips for improved ingress into the cargo bed.

2015 Ford F-150 NJ

2015 Ford F-150

Interior Features

Both the F-150 and Silverado offer their share of high-level features. For pure luxury, the High Country trim matches similar offerings on the F-150. When it comes to usability, the advanced Chevy MyLink system offers an infotainment experience that’s a step above Ford’s competing offering. Each Silverado is also equipped with OnStar, offering drivers a complete suite of emergency, maintenance and concierge services at the push of a button.

Powertrain

Ford has already shaken the truck world with the introduction of its 365-horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine in 2011. For 2015, the F-150 will receive a 2.7-liter version of the EcoBoost family that produces over 300 horsepower and claims to offer fuel efficiency that’s on par with or better than other V8 offerings.

However, Chevy offers a strong lineup of V6 and V8 engines that offer superior fuel economy and excellent performance. For instance, the 2014 Silverado’s 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 delivers an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in highway driving and 16 mpg in the city, matching both the performance and economy of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost while giving truck buyers a traditional V8 experience. For 2015, the Silverado will feature a new eight-speed transmission for better fuel economy as well as a diesel option – one that the upcoming F-150 still lacks.

2015 Chevy Tahoe Vs. 2014 Chevy Tahoe. When it comes to being tough, durable and versatile, few SUVs can compare to the Chevy Tahoe. The Chevy Tahoe 2015 vs. 2014 Chevy Tahoe

Exterior Features

The body of the 2015 Chevy Tahoe is more aerodynamic than ever. This is better achieved through exclusive inlaid paneling around the doors, which also reduces the noise level heard by passengers. The new Tahoe is 120-pounds less thanks, in part, to its aluminum hood and tailgate. It comes with 18-inch wheels, but 20- and 22-inch sizes are available. It has projector-beam headlights and the top trim level has HID headlights with LED running lights.

Interior Features

2015 Chevy Tahoe Interior Burlington NJ

There is room for nine passengers inside the Chevy Tahoe. The front comes fitted with bench-style seating, but bucket-style seats with a center console designed to hold a laptop or tablet are also available. There is more room for second-row passengers to stretch out their legs, and the third-row seats no longer need to be removed to get a bigger, flat area for loading and hauling things in the back of the vehicle. Both the second- and third-row seats can fold flat, but this convenience does mean some loss of storage space. With the seats taken out, the 2014 Chevy can hold 108.9 cubic feet versus the 94.7 cubic feet of cargo space in the 2015 model.

Front safety features feature a new front-center air bag and a conversation mirror that allows the driver to keep a better eye on back seat passengers. Other safety features include a reversing camera, front and rear parking alerts and forward-collision alerts. A six-month trial On-Star trial subscription comes standard with the Tahoe.
